I'm still beavering away and really enjoying rediscovering some lovely crochet stitches. This is a project I finished yesterday and uses the most pretty 'Crisp Cluster' stitch. I love these colours together and I've used Rowan's Handknit Cotton.

Today I'm off to Knit1TV to be recorded making some knitted roses. At the moment I don't know a lot about them, other than they are a new company selling subscriptions to their internet TV. So you pay £2 per month and get all sorts of interviews and workshops to download. That's all I know so far, so will update you later. Wish me luck for my TV debut!

Weather might be glorious, but my head is either in a box of dusty old books and files, bags of rubbish, trips to the tip or crochet.

Now, I don't want you to think crochet is stressful, but when you've spent hours over colour charts, bits of wool, made countless samples until your hands are sore only to find out that the wool is out of stock! Well it's enough to make you want to stab someone with a crochet hook.

Nevertheless the projects for the book are coming along and I have had some very welcome offers of help this weekend. If you don't hear from me for a few days it's because I've wrapped myself up in bubble wrap, crocheted myself into a brown cardboard box with a sticker saying: Send Overseas.

After visiting my publishers yesterday I went to VV Rouleaux with the colour palette we're using for the new crochet book. This is it....

At first I thought they were pastels, but in fact the colours are quite bold, but just specific and restricted to yellows, lavender, pink, pale blues and yellow. Very Spring colours.

VV Rouleaux is a lovely little shop and well worth the visit. I've been meaning to visit there for a long time. Though, I have to say that after my trip to Oman where the shops are dripping with ribbons and notions, VV Rouleaux was comparatively tame. Do visit though..... 102 Marylebone Lane W1U 2QD:

The Studio

Have been very busy planning today. Spent most of the day getting a new phone number which, if all goes well will be 01923 856619. But please still contact me on the current one until the end of June. BT, the usual nightmare. Must have spoken to about 10 people who all gave me different information.

Have spent the rest of the day on the Planning Portal trying to get 'change of use'. Such a simple request, but such a complicated process.

These are all tedious things that need to be done for the Studio. The exciting things will be chosing the fabrics, yarns and a new exhibition in time for the opening. I'm hoping to get a really good textile student I know to exhibit. Her name is Hannah Downton and she's studying at St Martin's. Very exciting and can't wait to get it all off the ground.

Isn't it just really annoying when you just haven't got the right shoes!
I mean how many women can say that - I think it's just me. I have a real soft spot for pretty dresses, buy them on impulse and then have nothing to wear on my feet. This cold weather doesn't help. Still in tights, not sandal weather yet. V. frustrating. These are nice though aren't they... If only had had the thin ankles you need for those ribbons.

I am REALLY missing my hens!

Charleston has always inspired me. The colours, free hand painted walls, stencils and fabrics are just gorgeous. At my old house in Burwash, we painted the fireplace like this and there will be lots of influences that I'll bring to my new studio....... It's well worth a visit to Charleston House, near Lewes for lots of inspiration.....

Work in progress

This is a little project that's serving two purposes. I'm designing a new bag and also making some crochet flowers for my Crochet Flowers, Leaves & Motifs Workshop coming up this Saturday (22nd May). There are still some places on this workshop, so if you fancy coming, just email or call me. It'll be one of the last workshops being held here in East Sussex.

I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged. I've been very bogged down this last two weeks. I've had a really horrible cough and cold which seems to have really set me back. I'm also trying to get ready for my move which is looming ahead too quickly.

I'm aiming to get the new Studio up and going for the first workshop there on the 3rd July. I'll be moving out of my house on or around the 22nd June. With very little space to store things, I'm having a slight stress.

Lucky that I've been commissioned to write another crochet book, so I can relax into making things and distracting myself away from packing boxes and visits to the tip. I'm very excited about this book. It's aimed at beginners, but instead of those boring beginner-type projects, I'm going to design some really lovely pretty things that are easy and achieveable for everyone. I'll be able to put a few snippets and photos up on the blog periodically, but I'm afraid I can't reveal the whole projects until the book has been published.

The 201 Knitted Projects & Ideas has gone to press now, so that's all done and dusted and just waiting for it to be released sometime in October.

I took these photos of Camilla this week...... This is for a shawl pattern that you can buy from Laughing Hens. It's actually really nice to wear, I don't often wear knitted shawls, but I love this one. It was made by Jeni from Fyberspates. Check out her website, she sells gorgeous hand-dyed yarns and has a fabulous eye for colour.

I promise to try and blog more and keep you all up to date with what's happened with the Studio.
